João Jardel é um produtor, experimentador, cantor e compositor de Itabira, interior de Minas Gerais. Filho e neto de Joãos, ele vem explorando suas fronteiras musicais e lançando sons solos desde 2020, mas antes disso já fez/faz parte de coletivos e bandas por Minas Gerais. Na carreira solo, soma uma série de singles, registros ao vivos, bons EPs e um álbum cheio, sempre explorando sonoridades ligadas à diáspora sonora brasileira, mundial e regional, mas sempre misturando elementos sonoros mais pesados.
Esse trabalho que fecha a trilogia do POP do cantor, compositor e produtor mineiro João Jardel. O projeto teve inicio com o EP "Pop" (2024), seguiu com o álbum "Anti-POP" (2025) e agora chega em seu capitulo final com o EP "megaPOP". Esse novo trabalho conta com 4 faixas feitas durante o processo dos POPs anteriores, mas que ficaram de fora dos outros trabalhos por diversos motivos. e um interlúdio intimamente ligado ao trabalho. É música experimental feita através da música pop e preta brasileira, latina e mundial. Com referência a pretxs da música desse plano e do próximo, talvez do anterior...
João Jardel is a producer, experimenter, singer, and songwriter from Itabira, in the countryside of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The son and grandson of Joãos, he has been exploring his musical boundaries and releasing solo work since 2020. Before that—and alongside his solo career—he has been part of collectives and bands across Minas Gerais. As a solo artist, he has released a series of singles, live recordings, EPs, and a full-length album, constantly exploring sounds connected to Brazil’s regional and global sonic diasporas while blending them with heavier sonic elements.
This project closes the POP trilogy by Minas Gerais-based singer, songwriter, and producer João Jardel. The project began with the EP Pop (2024), continued with the album Anti-POP (2025), and now reaches its final chapter with the EP megaPOP. The new release features four tracks created during the making of the previous POP projects but left off those releases for various reasons, along with an interlude intimately connected to the work as a whole.
megaPOP is experimental music made through Brazilian, Latin American, and global Black pop music. It draws inspiration from Black artists of this plane and the next—perhaps even the previous one...
